Cast and hand-glazed
The cup is cast in stoneware and individually hand-glazed by me in my studio.
The white glaze forms a richly textured surface made up of hundreds of small, raised droplets. Their size, placement and density vary across the piece, creating a tactile surface that changes subtly with the light.
 
Because the glaze is applied by hand and develops further during firing, every cup will have its own individual surface and character.
 
Individual variations
The cup you receive may not be the exact one shown in the photographs. It will be made in the same form and finished with the same glaze, but variations in the texture, distribution and appearance of the glaze will occur.
 
Each piece is individually glazed and therefore unique.
 
Use
The cup is made for everyday use and may be used for coffee, tea or other drinks.
The interior and drinking rim have a smooth glazed surface, while the exterior has a tactile, textured finish.
 
Wabi-sabi
Small variations, irregularities and traces of the glazing and firing process are a natural part of the piece and are not considered flaws.
Subtle differences in the white tone, texture and distribution of the glaze are part of what gives each cup its individual character.
 
Cleaning
The cup is dishwasher safe and intended for regular everyday use.
